MyKea: An Excellent Way to Personalize Your IKEA Purchases!

Several years ago, my daughter and I went on a 10-day trip to Europe. We had a fabulous time visiting with a close friend of mine who was living in Germany while her husband served our country. During our stay we visited several countries and had our first encounter with IKEA.

Now, at the time, I had no idea that there was an IKEA so close to my own home (like, two hours close). So when we went to the ginormous store, I did crazy amounts of shopping and ended up bringing home a boatload of stuff. In fact, looking back, I probably should have just shipped it all home, rather than checking it as luggage. But whatever, hindsight is 20/20, right?

And while I love the prices and eclectic nature of IKEA, my one complaint has to do with how plain most of their furniture is. The styling is very cute, but the basic furniture is very plain and simple. So I’ve often wanted to spice up the pieces we have from them. Read more…

IKEA: A European-Styled Nursery on a Budget

My first experience with IKEA was when I traveled to Germany. I was smitten the moment I walked in.

What’s funny about that is the fact that I had been living 3 hours from an IKEA and had no idea. Ha!

I wandered for hours, looking at all the individual rooms that were set up…..daydreaming about how I would put my own house together if I could just ship it all home. And just when I thought I couldn’t possibly love IKEA any more, I entered the children’s section.

That was it. I knew I couldn’t leave the store without at least a few things for my then 6-year-old daughter’s room. After she and I returned from the other side of the pond, we immediately made a girl’s-day date to visit our nearest IKEA in Stoughton, Mass. We’ve been there at least a dozen times since – many of those trips were to decorate the nursery of our newest addition. Read more…
